Lesson 7- Sex-linked Inheritance and Genetic Disorders
Duration: 1-2 Days
Hook: Provide students with a pedigree displaying a sex-linked inheritance similar to the one below and ask the following guiding questions:

Body: Emphasize the difference between sex-linked inheritance and autosomal inheritance. Provide examples to work with as a whole with the class. From that, work the lesson into genetic disorders that are X-linked such as hemophilia (bring up Royal family again) or Fragile-X syndrome and discuss conditions of these disorders in terms of how chromosomes are affected and what societal implications this may have (setting-up for next class on case study).
Assessment: Assign worksheet or textbook questions with problems on sex-linked inheritance. Here is a sample worksheet.
